Internet is coming home - Webciety

The Webciety pavilion put the spotlight on today's Web-based society, featuring mobile and web applications, collaboration tools, communities, blogging, real time web and other interactive Internet services that are digitizing our world and how we see it.

Taking cloud computing as an example, data and applications are now being stored on the Internet rather than on the user's local system. This makes it possible to access data and use software from any number of devices via the Internet, including on-the-go. This approach is especially beneficial for interactive work groups, bringing in-house and field staff closer together for tangible gains in flexibility, cost efficiency and scalability. Mobile applications have taken the market by storm since Apple launched its App Store, with Google following with the Android market place, and RIM and Nokia joining the application trend.

More and more devices are now going online, Internet connectivity is getting better and MID ( Mobile Internet Devices) such as iPhone are more common than ever. In fact, MID are expected to be first gateway to the Internet by 2012, taking over computers and notebooks. The 'Webciety' is leading to new consumer realities, with Location Based Services and social networks folding the internet to the physical space, revolutionising digital society interaction and open endless business opportunities.

During 2009 and throughout 2010, the Australian Startup scene has reached new records, with hundreds of new Mobile and Web development firms, and the magic sparkle to Green and Cleantech innovative  industries. The ICT industry has led the way for startups and innovation in the Silicon Valley and now Australia continue the boom with the built-in agility and the high-quality talent it attracts.

The Webciety space at CeBIT includes specially designed booths for presenting commercially viable Web and Mobile applications, and a theatre with free-to-attend Digital, Mobile and Web presentations and discussion throughout CeBIT, from 24-26 May 2010.

We will also happy to present Appciety this year - a competition and award for Australia's best mobile and web applications.
